hi there!

my name is Rose Johanna Beckett*, and this is 'another year of words'.

i'll start off by telling you a little bit more about me, that is, after all, why you came here...

on 31st August 2000, 5:04PM, i was born at home in the city that is called amsterdam. fourteen years and a few weeks later i decided to combine my love for writing and my love for the world around me to start a blog called love, rosaly. later on, i changed it to love, rosie because the people around me got confused with the name. in the beginning it was an absolute rampage, i can tell you that, but i've gotten better and i'm still learning.

a few months into 2016 i got the idea to start this blog whilst commuting with my friends over which word we loved most out of all the words we knew. we came up with a lot of words that we seemed to love and i remember thinking there should be a space for all of these simple yet special words. so here we are. in the space of an entire year, i'll be posting a new word - and its meaning - every single day. hopefully.

writing isn't the only thing i do in my spare time. if it were, i would be the most awkward kid that would ever walk this earth, but luckily my mum drags me outside every now and then. secondary school isn't as bad as i always thought it would be, the teachers are nice, the lessons are absorbing - sometimes - and the best part is, of course, my friends. if it weren't for school, i would have never met a few of my bestest friends, who form a distraction in hard times and share my happiness in good times.

outside school, i used to take dance classes. it started when i was six, with my mum pushing me to find a hobby that included reading nor writing and where i would meet other girls. the introduction lesson was kinda awesome, and i decided that i was going to give it a shot. in 2016, after a full decade of dancing at the same ballet school, having made so many good friends and amazing memories along the way, i had to quit due to an ankle injury that won't allow me to dance ever again, which is truly heartbreaking, but hey, life happens.

aside from writing, i love baking, reading, acting, photography, ncis:la and catching up with people i love.
